Lipid Therapy

You have been sent a link to this page because you would benefit from taking medication to lower your cholesterol. Lowering cholesterol can reduce your risk of future heart attacks and strokes.

The most common medication to lower cholesterol is called a statin. Please read this leaflet for more information about statins.

If you do not wish to take a statin, there are other medications which can be used to lower your cholesterol.

Further information can be found on the NHS.uk website here.

You can also lower your cholesterol through lifestyle changes, although if you suffer from other medical conditions that put you at risk of heart attacks and strokes, it is a good idea to take medicines to lower cholesterol as well as make these changes. For information about these lifestyle changes, please see the following link.

If you would like to start a statin or a different medication to lower your cholesterol, please call the GP practice on 0161 794 6237 and book an appointment to speak with our practice pharmacist.

If you know you don’t want to start any medication to lower your cholesterol, please use the link in the text message you have received to opt-out, or we may contact you again.
